    Non-GMO verification confirms that a product is produced without genetic engineering and meets strict thresholds for GMO avoidance. It does not simply rely on a company stating that its grains are non-GMO. Instead, verification requires documented evidence, traceability, and ongoing compliance with defined standards. For grains, this is especially important because many commonly grown grain crops have genetically modified versions in commercial circulation, increasing the risk of cross-contamination.

    Verification is typically performed by independent third-party organizations rather than government agencies. These organizations establish the criteria, audit supply chains, and test products to ensure compliance.
