Setting up a wellness routine is no easy fit. Sticking to it is even more difficult, but today this article will break down step-by-step how you can set up a wellness routine for yourself and see amazing results in as little as a week. Real, tangible results that can guide you to move in the direction of wanting a stable routine. Behavioral studies indicate that it takes about 21 days to build a new habit. All you have to do is make it to the seven-day mark, rinse and repeat for a couple more weeks and you have a perfect wellness routine that you can stick to and build on top of to be in the best shape, both physically and mentally.

    Start Small

Day 1 is always supposed to be easy enough that you can execute the task, but also motivating enough for you to be able to stick with it. Which of the wellness activities do you find easier to execute? Is it taking a 15-minute walk? Putting together a healthy dinner for yourself? It could be scheduling time for your loved ones to meet and unwind together. Whichever one works best for you. Ideally you should set up small, executable tasks for your first day and jotting them down on a post-it that you can put on the fridge, and tick the activities you’ve done. It will give you a sense of accomplishment and set you on the path for success, because you’ll feel motivated to show up on the second day.

    Journal The Wins

All wins count, big or small. So every night when you’re about to wind down, pick up your journal and write all the successes you have met on the day. No matter how small they are, keeping track of how you stuck by yourself on your wellness journey is what will propel it forward and turn it into a routine. It also evokes a sense of accountability. When you come back to your journal every night, you can compare how you did the previous day/days and then seek improvement based on the comparison. Remember, you’re your only competition.

    Morning Routine

Morning routines are all the rage on social media right now, and it can feel a bit difficult to execute those perfect steps of waking up, dunking your face in cold water or taking a cold shower, meditating, stretching, putting on sun screen, writing in your gratitude journal, and whatnot. But here’s the catch: you’re not performing for anybody. Your morning routine should be tailored to what makes you feel good in the mornings. If it is as simple as brushing your teeth throwing your hair in a bun, and lounging with your cat, then so be it. The idea is to find what kind of morning routine centers you and gets you ready for the day, and then implement it step by step.

    Consider A Detox

Pick your poison, is it a social media detox you’re going to go for, or are you considering containing that sweet tooth for a week? But a 7 day detox of whatever guilty pleasures you want to put on hold for a while can be the central stabilizing framework for your plan to create a well-being routine. If you’ve chosen to detox by not eating processed foods, just mark the days on the calendar and cross them off as you go. This week-long goal will help you put the rest of your newfound wellness habits in place as well.

    Prioritize Rest

Last but not least, make sleep your best friend. Try to fix a bedtime and then start unwinding half an hour before your bedtime. It will help you wake up at the same time in the morning, your goal should be getting anywhere between 8-10 hours of solid sleep every night if you want to be healthy and rested enough to take care of yourself through the day while managing work and other responsibilities. Sleep is crucial for wellness and if you don’t sleep well you won’t be able to stay on top of your goals through the week.

    Conclusion

Wellness routines might look like something for Instagram but they are very real, and so is their impact on the body. Just remember you don’t have to chase an ideal you see on social media. You define what wellness looks like for you and then you stand by it to help your body, mind, and soul recover.
